About the Instructor

Carol, a dedicated teacher with over 20 years of public and private school teaching experience loves working with children of all ages to help them learn about themselves and the world around them. As a life-long learner, she is passionate about classical education, which provides a rich background in history, literature, mathematics, science and the arts. Included in her teaching skills are the following: multi-sensory instructional methods and activities for teaching reading; hands-on, concrete mathematics and science instruction; and the utilization of the key-words approach to teaching writing from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. When not teaching, Carol enjoys gardening, reading, cooking, biking, hiking, church work, and playing her flute in the Parkland Community Orchestra. Carol earned a B.A. in Business from Michigan State University and a M.S. in Education from the University of Kansas and has held teaching certificates in Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, and Ohio.  She is currently licensed in Illinois.
