Payment
Payment shall be made by the first of each month. Tuition is continuous and averaged throughout the school year, September through May, taking into account days the school is closed. No additional credit will be given for student absences.
Physical Education/Recess
Each morning we take a short break to walk around the small block and to do short garden chores (in season). We also take a longer P.E./recess break around lunch. Four days we bike and or scoot and one day we run, weather permitting. Please make sure your student has suitable clothing and footwear for these activities. He/she may keep P.E. clothes and/or shoes at school and change quickly before the activity.
We will continue to go out during the winter months as well. Please make sure your student has appropriate rain or snow wear as necessary.
Homework
Any assignments not completed during the day will be sent home for completion. In addition, your student should review spelling words (and math facts if necessary) regularly. Students are expected to read for 30 to 60 minutes each evening. This time may include class reading assignments, reading to siblings, and family read alouds.
Dress Code
Students are expected to dress comfortably and modestly for all school activities. No spaghetti strap shirts, no exposed midriffs, no underwear showing, and no shorts shorter than fingertips when arms are extended downwards.
Field Trip Days
On Friday afternoons we take (usually free) field trips around town. If ever there is a fee associated with a trip, you will be notified in advance.
Lunch
Students are expected to have a substantial breakfast before arriving to school. Lunch is approximately 12:00 – 1:00, and students are expected to provide their own lunches that do not require additional preparation time at school.
School Records and Health Forms
Salo Academy maintains school records for its students. Upon acceptance, each parent shall sign a Request for Transfer of Records form so that Salo Academy may obtain each student’s records from his/her prior school. Each student is required to have an updated physical health form and immunization record on file. All health forms should be submitted prior to the start of school.
Attendance
For the protection of all, if your student has a contagious disease, he/she is expected to stay at home until the disease is no longer contagious. Please contact Salo Academy by text or phone is your student will be absent.
Behavior
Education at this school is a privilege. Students are expected to be well-behaved and respectful at all times. The school reserves the right to dismiss any student who does not exhibit appropriate behavior. If a student is asked to transfer for any reason, the tuition will be pro-rated according to the number of days the student was enrolled.
